On 26 July 2016, Harcourt Life acquired the entire share capital of Aviva Life International Limited from Aviva International Holdings Limited.

Aviva Life International Limited was initially re-branded as Harcourt Life International but has now been renamed as Utmost Ireland Designated Activity Company from 30th June 2017.

The Company has re-opened to writing new business from July 2017.


Utmost Ireland is a life assurance company incorporated in March 1999 and regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland as a life assurance undertaking since 2000. Its business consists of international investment bond business invested in unit linked and unitised with profits products.

As at 31 December 2016:

  • The number of in-force policies – 5,453
  • Net Assets held on behalf of policyholders – €1,315m
  • The solvency coverage of the Company – 130%
  • Total Assets – €1,421m
