On 26 July 2016, Harcourt Life acquired the entire share capital of Aviva Life International Limited from Aviva International Holdings Limited.
Aviva Life International Limited was renamed Harcourt Life International Limited. On 13 August 2016, Harcourt Life International Limited was renamed Harcourt Life International Designated Activity Company. ("HLI" or the "Company").
The Company will continue to be run on a stand-alone basis, to pursue the orderly run off of its business.
HLI is a life assurance company incorporated in March 1999 and regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland as a life assurance undertaking since 2000. Its business consists of international investment bond business invested in unit linked and unitised with profits products.
HLI formally closed to new business at the end of February 2010 but continues to meet its contractual and regulatory obligations for existing policyholders.
As at 31 December 2016:
- The number of in-force policies – 5453
- Net Assets held on behalf of policyholders - €1,315m
- The solvency coverage of the Company – 130%
- Total Assets - €1,421m
